for some reason when i mix from a video file to a non video file, the video output goes straight to black. It used to dsplay my desktop wallpaper (which is what i want) but is not doing it anymore. I cannot figure out why.... any ideas?

Do you have the relevant boxes "ticked" and what do you have selected in the drop down box? Obviously the top one will already be active.
