I dont do any coffins. I set up 2 laptops, 2 external hd's, a wireless mic, projector, amp, mixer, of course speakers. It seems I have wires all over the place. My last gig was for an electrician and he said to step away quickly if a freak thunderstorm arises. Is there something I can do without coffins or???

Make a wiring harness. Get everything setup at home the way you want, get some Velcro wire wraps, make it look nice. Buy cables that have just enough to connect everything together. Example buy a short 2ft USB cable instead of wire wrapping a 6ft cable up just to go 1 1/2 ft.

I fully agree with what yk23 said. For example, DJs will use 25ft. or 50ft. XLR cables to hook up their speakers resulting in a tangled mess when all they really need are 15ft. cables.
For me personally though I prefer to have everything in road cases. In fact the way I set up my gear you do not see one single wire or cable. Besides, road cases look far more pro and they protect your gear. I'd highly recommend getting road cases.

I use this stuff to make my own \"snake.\" It has no adhesives and will not catch on anything like velcro ties or zip ties.

I hook up all the gear then wrap the wires in place and voila!

I really like that cable management snake. Not a bad price at all.

i make my own snakes , but they aren't as snazzy as nutz's ....i may try that
what did the electrician recommend?
wire organization and etc. ...... for what it's worth....
keep different lengths of xlr spkr/mic
keep spares of EVERYTHING put 'em in ziplock freezer bags.....use cable cuffs to neatly coil stuff
for any permanent configuration of several wires you can place them in flexible plastic conduit
for instance i do that with the 2 rca's from the RMX, the usb connection i use a cable cuff to take up
the extra

I've got OCD when it comes to cables, I hate them.
At least have a power distribution unit and 0.5m male to female IEC leads to connect everything.
That IEC input you see in the top left is the only power lead you need for all units to be powered.

Pioneer and Denon etc should start making mixers that have powered usb's in them e.g. 2 in 1 out at least then you would eliminate 1 usb lead to the computer.
PS, those orange IEC's are locking IEC, I didn't choose the colour it's the only colour available.
Also all these units with laptop style adaptors, fail straight away! would never buy one.
