Does anyone know if the crossfader on the NUMARK Ns6 is midi. I want to buy it for video mixing purposes

yes its midi, but it's really hard to find a sskin that supports the controller perfectly. My suggestion is to stay away from the NS6 for virtual DJ use. Too many latency isssues and other "gotchas"....Just my 2 cents.

Wow really because we've used it for the last several trade shows and haven't run into any problems. If its good enough for LarryD chances are you won't have any problems.

Yes the NS6 is great for video mixing. I used mine a few weeks ago for a 6hour club video mix and it worked flawless!

This is me, at the latest BPM show (last week) in a random moment doing some looping and crossfading.
We used the ns6 for 3 days for both audio and video mixing.
You see the crossfader cuts well and yes it is midi. Crossfader mode : "scratch" in virtualdj options.
The only important point you need to know is that in software (control) mode the controller is totally midi and not audio like the Denon Mc 6000 or the vms4. The analog mixer is used only for the external inputs.

How is this cause I just ordered mine in regards to the all around aspect?
Also I'm running a mac pro mid 2011 model with 8gb ram is there any tricks to get this working smooth?
I'm giving up my iCdx's in favor of this unit trying to go with simple set-up times and transport.

As the mixer and crossfader is midi, you can adjust the crossfader curve in vrtualdj options.
Depending on how you use it you can choose between : Full - scratch - smooth - disabled.
In the above video it is on 'scratch' as i needed quick cuts.
You can improve the jog performance:
Download the registry tool and set the "Default scratch latency" from 2205 to 1024.
