Cool thanks.

Yes I know it's black. Maybe they had it on display with no software which I didn't think they would do, that's why I thought it must have a working version of VDJ. I am sorry for presuming, I just thought it was common sense....

Hopefully I get mine in the mail today, then I can start playing around with it.

Is there a way to have deck 2 as Channel 4 instead of Channel 3 to be controlled by VDJ?

Thanks

If you go to the Config -> Mapper tab ... scroll down to the bottom of the list of entries.

You will see several that end with a '3' ... click on the entry so it's highlighted and then in the top right drop-down you will see the same entry value.

Select the down arrow for the drop-down, then pick the same entry from the list - but the one that ends with a '4'.

So example --

Click and Highlight the entry for GAIN_3 ... then in the top right drop-down select the entry for GAIN_4.
Repeat this for the EQs, Volume fader, CF_Assign, PFL, SRC_AUDIO, etc.

Now the faders, knobs, etc of the MixDeck's Channel 4 will be controlling VirtualDJ's Deck 2 mixer controls.

Hope you are able to follow ....

i have played at 2 events but it gets confusing when the computer does not match the unit
the unit left disk is single track 2 and the right is single track 1
and on the computer its the opposite

i loaded your latest mapper but its not solving my problem

do i need to configure something

thanks in advance
chico

Just hit the Eject button to swap the decks

hey man i downloaded the mapper for my macbook pro.. and the mixdeck quad is not reading it or recognizing thats it even plugged in.. I've re-downloaded the mapper 3 times and the instal always says successful... any clue on what to do..?
p.s I've downloaded it on my back up macbook pro and it connects perfectly fine every-time. i just cant duplicate the results on the man computer.

Has anyone tried virtual dj for mixing videos on the mixdeck quad yet. and if so was it easy to set up? please help thanks

I use a regular Mixdeck to mix video and it's great. I'd imagine it would actually be better with a quad since it the crossfader is MIDI..

UPDATE

After a little research and discussion with the staff at Numark ... here is how you get 4 decks of Audio control with the MixDeck Quad.

Make sure the switch on the back of the unit for USB Audio is set to PRG/CUE ... then use the following VirtualDJ Sound setup:

Input: None

Output: Headphones (Master 1&2 / Headphones 3&4)

For Windows:
Soundcard -- 4.1 Card then select the MixDeck Quad
For Mac OSX:
Soundcard -- 4-out Card then select the MixDeck Quad

Flip all channel switchs to the USB/MIDI options.

Enjoy!!!

thank again cstoll !!! for the new update !!!! i love more and more my mixdeck quad day after day !!!! you rock man !!!

I downloaded the new driver and followed all instructions but on my Output, I only see master front / headphone rear as choice. I don't see master 1&2 and headphone 2&4. The driver is also identified as 2- mixdeck quad. If I use advance configuration, I can choose master 1&2 and headphone 3&4 and use driver 2 mixdeck quad for both. On my hardware ch1 is working as deck3 on software ch2 is deck 1 on vdj, ch3 is deck2 on vdj then ch4 is deck4 on vdj. Please guide me how to fix this. Thanks, CSTOLL!

Sorry for the mistake I did on your post CSTOLL and to everyone that might get confused. I pressed the wrong key on my keyboard. I was asking for CSTOLL's help. This is not part of his comments regarding my use of the updated driver for 4 decks.

I apologize for the confusion it might cause. I will be more careful next time.

OK, cleaned up your post ...

A couple things -

1. You do not need drivers. The unit is class-compliant. Remove all drivers you may have loaded.
2. Master 1&2 / Headphones 3&4 -- is the same as Master - Front / Headphones - Rear ( I have updated the instructions on the mapper pages )
3. I updated mappings yesterday to fix a couple bugs. I also uploaded a Deck Order mapping of 1-2-3-4 for those that want the mapping to follow the silk screen that is on the unit.

Original Mapping with customary VirtualDJ Deck Order - 3-1-2-4 -- http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/14802/MixDeck_QUAD.html

Hardware Silk Screen Mapping with Deck Order - 1-2-3-4 -- http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/15129/MixDeck_QUAD_1234.html

Using your latest Mixdeck Quad mapper version 1-2-3-4, I noticed when fading video music the video will also fade in proportion to crossfader movement. Is this normal? On the original mapper video mix between using the different mode or effects but both videos does not gradually disappear or fade to black. Can you please check on this. Thank you once again, CSTOLL.

Hello Cstoll,

I am one of the silent followers on this forum. I have a Mixdeck Quad and I managed to set it up and have it working smoothly by following all the instructions you have posted. Thank you very much. The only problem is I tried to record a mix with microphone but it was missing when I played back the recording. How do I record a mix with microphone?

Also which one of the keys could be used for sync? I don't really use the TAP, could it be changed to sync? If so please send me the mapping instruction for this? Thanks again for your assistance. Appreciated.

I'll try my best to share with you what I did. Hopefully this will answer your question: go to CONFIG. > MAPPERS > MIXDECK QUAD then scroll down until you see TAP on left side. Highlight it (it will show on Key Learn). Highlight or press Action Learn, go to the skin and press SYNC once. That should do it. you can always go back by pressing BPM if you don't like the result.

The MixDeck Quad has a real hardware mixer, so the mic will be output directly to the speakers. It won't be 'heard' by VirtualDJ, so cannot be recorded internally (Unless you use the 'loopback' feature.) To record, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Recording%20your%20set%20or%20broadcasting%20when%20using%20an%20external%20DJ%20mixer.html

You can change any button of your own choice to sync or any other function that you need. Please see our FAQ pages: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20change%20the%20mapping%20for%20a%20button.html

Edq2000, thank you very much. Your instruction was spot on. I also got the mic to work by using the record loopback in advance config. However it will only work with mic2 (the XLR input) but not the one at the front. I discovered that mic2 is integrated with the sound card but the other one only output to the speakers. This will not be ideal for 4 deck mixing as I have to dedicate one of my channels for mic only so I may use the suggestion from the link provided by Support staff.

Thank you again Guys your help was much appreciated.
