Hi
I'm interested in learning to DJ but the sites I've found that offer courses are way out of my budget. Im in the North of England (Yorkshire) but don't mind travelling if the price is right.
Cheers guys x

I really don't believe in these "DJ Schools" as you don't need any certifications to qualify as a DJ. They are also very "crash course" types as they are cramming the fundamentals into your brain in a very short period of time. A lot of people walk away from these courses even more lost and confused then when they walked in.
As TDBennett suggested read the tutorials in the mixing forum, check out you tube, and teach yourself by finding the information you require. Searching for information on the craft of DJing will benefit you thousands of times more as you will stumble across information that you were not looking for that will help you in the future.
Also, with the money you save on DJ lessons you can buy yourself a nice piece of gear or Virtual DJ Pro :)
Happy Learning.

A real dj teaches himself.
Why go to school to sound like someone else and pay for it?

I think these courses are a good idea, at least then hopefully these noobs shouldn’t be completely wack.
Also that youtube guy he really is for beginners so it is a good place to start, never yet have I found anything useful he has said and I fall asleep watching them. And some of it is just plain wrong too, I remember a video he did to clean a smoke machine, he pulled the pipe out of the bottle and just pumped air through the bas**rd!

Charlie,
do you come here just to piss on things?
you have a very poor attitude and it reflects poorly on this site.
Just my opinion,

The only way to learn the craft is through music theory and practical experience. That being said, be aware that there are a pile of youtube videos and tutorials that will lead you down the wrong path and/or are just plain wrong in general. So look through plenty of material. When you start seeing the same thing repeat itself in articles and videos then you can be certain that it is factual and/or the right way of doing things.
