Many posts about this gadget! lol

Here are the prices from the 'Smithson Martin' Website for you to go out & order one!

Emulator 32″ Dual $3,875.00
Emulator 32″ 6-Touch $4,875.00
Emulator 42″ Dual $4,275.00
Emulator 42″ 6-Touch $5,975.00

Enjoy your 'NEW' toy lol

The ironic thing to me is that we spent years wanting larger & larger laptops (like my 20 inch LG 'The Worlds Largest Laptop') then they came out with the 'Netbook' & everyone wanted to go backwards & go smaller & smaller again.

Now the 'tablet' pc or using your phone to control the software (bring your glasses)

NOW this behemoth to lug around lol

Make up your minds 'SHEEPLE' lol

P.S. also from their website:

8. How much will shipping cost?
We are trying our best to setup international distributors in every major
centre on Earth so please ask your local DJ shop or music store if they plan
to carry Emulator. All Emulator HARDWARE sales will be through our distribution and
retail partners.

9. Can I buy the Emulator software to use on my own touch screen?
The answer is YES!, emulator not only work in our hardware.
If you need ultra portable solution we suggest this devices:

Tablet PC HP TM2 with i3 CPU or better.
Tablet PC HP EliteBook (Multi-Touch model 2740p or better)
Tablet PC Fujitsu T900
Desktop LCD 3M M2256PW

10. How does the Emulator HRDWARE screen work?
The Emulator touch screen you see on all the videos works by using a rear
projection film on the backside of the glass. A short throw projector is
mounted below the screen and projected up onto the glass making the image
visible to both the DJ and the crowd. The actual screen is where the magic
happens. The screen has hundreds of infrared sensors that form a grid over
the glass and when your finger breaks this grid, the screen knows where you
are touching and voila!

11. What is the difference between Dual Touch and Six Touch?
With our Emulator technology, you can use up to 6 simultaneous touch
points. This means you can use the filter, volume, loops and other buttons
all at the same time. For example when you are bringing in the next track,
perhaps you apply a high-pass filter then you want to bring the volume up on
one channel and down on another all while holding the filter. This would
require 3 touch points. Also, if you had two DJ’s using the Emulator at the
same time, you would need more than 2 touch points. Think of the Six Touch
version as the Pro model.

12. Is Emulator Stable?
YES 100% Stable. We have tested this software in a variety of situations
and it has NEVER failed during a performance. As long as you use a computer
with the minimum requirements, you will be absolutely blown away by how
stable Emulator is. We have prioritized the computer to put 90% of the CPU
processing towards audio and only 10% towards graphics so you might
encounter a slight lag in the visual (ie. waveform stops moving for a
minute). This is normal and happens with every DJ software.

THE MUSIC NEVER STOPS!!

So for us video DJ's how is this gonna work? lol

But it says right now that you need to use it with tracktor. Does anyone have a similar unit that works with Virtual DJ yet?

Ahem:

3. What DJ Software does Emulator work with?

Emulator currently works for Traktor Pro only. Emulator for Ableton,
Serato, Virtual DJ and others is in development and will be ready soon.

Watching these vids reminds me of a line from 'Top Gun'

"While you're out there showboating & dancing, who's spinning the beats?" lol

Cancel my question, just saw the answer in one of the posts.

It's like the difference between 1D and 3D if you ask me, my RMX is 3D, this screen is 1D.

I like something to grab hold of, I like to feel the equipment.

I think the bloke in the video used to work in my local supermarket on the check out till.

@ Charlie...I am with you.

After seeing Emulator running on the Token screen and having a multitouch computer, I didn't like the prospect of not having tactile controls. Also the latency and the non-precise nature of touchscreens, I built the "Konsole" (search baileydotdj on youtube for videos), which is similiar, except that it has a DJ Steel built into the centre of the screen.

So you get the visual impact of this concept, but with the tactile feel of a controller...of and it cost about 1/4 the price.

that thing is TOOOO BIG i guess if your just pushing start/stop go for it just bring help to load it in and out.

That is so not the future............kinda lame in my opinion. Sure at first it'd be cool but how long before the newness wears off, then what? Just another guy playin music lookin like he's reading emails cause he pays more attention to the waves then the crowd.

Just my thoughts
Huey

no no i know what i can use it for. if someone gets murdered at a gig i can use it to show the crowd how they got killed like CSI yeah thats it.

Gentlemen, no matter how you look at it, it is the future. Some of you really need to open your eyes and see the hand writing on the wall. Let me just speak for myself. I am 58 years old, and hope to get much older, but may not make it to 59. Some of you will not make it to your 40th birthday. I am coming up on my 43rd year of DJing. Most of you will not make it that long, because we are fast becoming obsolete. The reason I have lasted this long is because I am great at what I do, and have adapted. Do you have any idea how many DJ tools I have used that are no longer here? When I was growing up, there was a turntable or record player in every house. I have every 40s hit, and no one request them anymore. You know why? Because they are not here anymore. Remember cassettes, 8 tracks? Mini-disc? Stereo systems? The turntable is hanging on by a very thin thread. I don't even have a house phone anymore. There is a concept of a quiet club, where they wear headphones. You will be able to stream a DJ performance all around the world, so Tiesto will be in 20 of the top clubs in the world at one time. Magazines, books, newspapers are fading away, and soon will be a thing of the past. So, if you want to hang on to old concepts, you can. But the thing about the future is, we won't be here, and it will happen.

A Man And His Music

I and a few others bought a dual mini disc player off Denon when they came out and copied all our music over to mini disc's, lasted 6 months before CD players went nut's with loads of features and then we were back plus we got sick of all the work making the discs.

Move with the times but don't just do every new thing.

I am contacting Numark, Vastax and Denon asking them to make there platters in alloy as the plastic feel just isn't kickin it, so imagine sliding your fingers over a screen all night. Like a giant iphone or ipad, horrible.

Obviously if you don't mix or scratch or use the equipment as it was designed then no doubt the screen would be ok, but then why not just be a PC dj and hit automix?

Here's I guy that can work the equipment.

@ A Man And His Music...Thankfully I hit 40 next week, so I've only got to be careful for another week or so :)

Strange that you should mention the "Virtual DJ" concept, as I was only talking about this to a friend yesterday...Have my "Konsole" setup in a studio (black backdrop) and then broadcast it to several clubs via broadband, then shown via projectors. If you connect this with FIRETEXT, you would have communication with the audience...lol

Great Simon, it's the future, we'll have to hurry up n get on with it.

Hang in there, you can do it.

Charlie...as you know there will always be early adopters of technology that will want to "push the boundaries"...but in all honesty I think you have to be a "name" to pull it off.

I suppose it's not that different from "Touch Yello - Virtual Concert" by Yello for Electronic Beats.
