I decided to build a custom pc for gigs with 3 cdroms to play from original audio cds.
What CD-rom / DVD-rom brand and type do you reccomend
- good in reading scratched CDs
- fast while reading exact data
- not too noisy
- black colour :-)
(and optionally with a play button in order to play a song when the PC dies, but
1 such a "security" drive is enough so on others it's not so necessary)

I would reccomend you Nec. I have all my cd-roms of Nec. Never had problems with reading.
But now it's very difficult to find cd-roms with play button.

The players that are best tested most of the time are from Plextor. Little expensive but I have some burners and readers and they extract audio at 30-36 speed!
