Topic: Video preview size

I'm new to handling videos. They come in different sizes...

But does the width/height-ratio of the video-element in VDJ skin engine affect performance in any way?
If so, what ratio is best? 1.333, 1.6, etc
(Don't most external displays, such as TV, Projector, etc only support 1.333? 1024*768, 800*600,...)

I'm guessing that the smaller the video-element, the better the performance.
