It's not just volume because of lower cost, there is also convenience in walmart because of everything being under one roof.

VDJ is much the same...a suite, if you will, of apps that work very well together, though better individual options may exist from competitors.

With small private dev teams, this seems to occur often. My theory is that they are people who are on the these types of dev teams originally began the job for the love of the project, not a paycheck. Because of that, they are motivated by enjoyment as much as pay. Creating a new gizmo app to add on is fun. Debugging and/or slightly improving existing software is not. Law of diminishing returns, I guess....knocking out the first 75% of a project is the thrill, but that last 25% of the code can be 90% of your development time/expense.

I wish VDJ was modular with modest charges for the individual apps just so that Atomix would have a good idea of who their customer base is and what they want. It would make their development decisions much easier than using this forum and a few testers, in my opinion.

Heck...put up a donation link with a survey list of proposed development projects. Whichever project gets the most money gets pushed to the top for that dev cycle. That would at least give some insight to the customer base we truly are. I know that I couldn't guess. These forums have everything from those wanting nothing more than a playlist with auto-fade to those wanting to host 15,000 people parties with complicated video mixing and light shows.

I think this gold membership is a very good idea, because some of us, think we aren't paying enough for what VDJ is doing!

Anyway, some people are fine with what vdj does and have no requests whats so ever for the evolution. BUT, some people do have requests and with this gold membership if they can have access to the beta versions and a priority in their requests would be really good.

Anyway, this membership would be optional, those who don't want anything more from VDJ don't have to donate and have some special features like beta testing, but it would be interesting for those who love vdj and want it to evoluate as quickly as possible.

I think its a great idea... and its optional :) those who wants to support, get a access to beta, and have a higher status in development, can do so, by supporting the development finacially

I'd pay for a gold membership, but I'd still prefer some method that would allow the devs to know the type of enhancements their members want.

I tell you what. I'll put my money where my mouth is: Upon the release of a patch that allows me to adjust the sensitivity of my XP10's platter for scratching, I will have 5 pepperoni pizza's delivered to Atomix HQ. =)

Amen bargler. I think they kinda do it with disc speed in fame settings (i think). But the 2 settings arent enough. I have to move my hand too much to get the scratches i want. Do you agree?

I feel a Gold Membership idea whith beta testing involvement is great.
I LOVE this PROG, Atomix, and the International VDJ Community!
At This Point in my Life DJing is not a every week proposition and don,t make huge money from it.
I Love the idea of free updates, but love this program so much would like to make a donation from time to time for all the extra work of the Dev.Team and extra features in the program.
My Motive to Donate would be because I luv VDJ so much, not for Gold Membership in itself, but that would be a nice aknowledgement anyway.
There was been talk of a Private Pro-users forum and new forum software, how about leaving the existing forum as is but, creating a private Gold/Beta forum for Gold Members with improved Forum software.
Maybe a Star rating within this forum relating size of donation but equilly work done in developing skins ,effects, visualisations, and softyware Dev. and beta testing.
I would like to see a Min. donation to achieve this status (for example $33 eur.) no max and no fixed yearly renewal, but renewal based on contribution to VDJ Community either in money or time relating to this prog.
I'm trying to say I dont expect a life Gold membership for a couple of dollars, But let everyone
"contribute according to there abilities as best they are honestly able"

I don't see any one asking windows take thie logo of,why should we have to pay for fixs ? I'll pay for upgraed not updates.VDJ is a bedroom software I don't think so I'ev used every dj software out there and when you take a look at FXVRM BPM PRO the only thing they got over VDJ is sound quality that's alot but vdj stands out.

@blackgold

Actually, for me, they tend to be too sensitive. I'd like to add a little more distance to my platter movements for scratching. It is most frustrating for vocals. I can scratch a vocal into a drop, but the platter is too sensitve to really warp and play with the vocal.

Btw, I'm serious about the pizza. Come on, XP10 users...let the pledge drive begin! Who wants to buy the beer for the devs to go along with my pizza? =)

Pizza????

I thought you were kidding B.
You know Stan Dixon BTW?
He's right in your back yard, OTS user though, poor guy....

I think if you look at all of the competitive software out there from the disfunctional futureware to the high end DJP that hasn't made any big improvements and has privatized support much like OTS, some of you might realize just how good we have it here.

Now i'll put my money where my mouth is without a star for my forehead.

I am TOTALLY convinced that IF another program was available it would cost no less than $300 US.
Right now, this tool has set me back $119 because of when I bought it (03).
And I have bought 2 other licences for other dj friends of mine who I will not name.
Funnier yet, is that I purchaced it with my refund from Visiosonic, so it really didn't set me back anything at all.
My only other option, which still wouldn't cut it next to VDJ, would have been $3600 just for starters for doing video that is.

My offer would start at $200, and I would feel pretty dam (sorry dams) good about it, because I know it's worth all of that and more to me.

Now, I fully understand that some of you are much younger and struggle with finances.
I came from the trenches of life and had to kick, bite and scratch to get where I am now, I ain't no silver spoon fed brat that had every concievable thing given to him, I broke my ass for it.

But c'mon fellers, you have pro grade software that has taken the lead and leads the industry for a fraction of the cost of it's nearest competitor.
That tool will still be there when you begin to prosper from djing, in fact it will help you grow and prosper.
Would you have bought VDJ if it was $300?
My bet is yes you would have, because none of us are dummies.

You gotta see the value of it, a deal that is too good to be true.
If you have been associated with the biz and other software you'd really understand how good it is here.

I am sure refinements will continue to come, particularly with respect to scratching and controller support.

Think about it.....

If besides the sensitivity of the xp10, also the sensitivity of the jog wheel and pitch bend buttons of the dvinyl controller will be user adjustable, I will pay for the beer. But half beer and half soft drinks so half of the team is still able to make further improvements ;-)

Ok.

XP10 platter sensitivity = 5 pizzas
Divinyl sensitivity = Beer and Soda

Anybody want to throw in some change for paper plates and napkins? =)
You might think I'm joking, but I've sent pizza to more than one dev team in the past! LOL

Mr. Clavel: “Would it helps if we'd set up a ‘donator membership’ or ‘gold membership’, that would shows under your name in the forum, grants you access to all beta session and allows you to have your ideas and remarks be taken in consideration in priority by the team?”

The ‘donator membership’ ideal is excellent if most of the $upport money is going to a charity. Let’s face the unfortunate truth—this corrupt world that we live in needs a lot of charity. Although making Virtual DJ reality is an impressive endeavor, using it to help the needy of this world is a legacy that no software can ever eclipse Mr. Clavel. Therefore, if you do choose to embark on this encouraging endeavor, you have my support.

If anyone has any ideas on possible charities and a name for Mr. Clavel’s proposal, please post them.

I don't mean to be cynical Double O, but I disagree. If you want to donate to charity, then do so. I appreciate your sentiment, but I already give to the charities of my own choosing.

With this "gold" membership, however, I don't want to give to a charity...I want to invest in the development of VDJ.
