Topic: ActiveX/Plug-In for reading/writing the VDJ database

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Provide a set of functions/classes that developers can call from within various Windows programming languages/scripting tools to allow safe read/write access to the VDJ Database.

This would allow seasoned developers to write add-ons for VDJ around database management/repair/clean/fix as well as automating updates to the database without having to have VDJ scan the media.

By providing this, Atomix would not have to provide DTD's or documentation on the XML structure of the file, and could make changes to the stucture of the database in the future without harming the tools that use the feature.

I would imagine that there is already a function library within VDJ itself which would needed to be tidied up and exposed. This would mean it would be available from the moment VDJ is installed and only on machines where VDJ is installed. Another option is to only expose it in the Pro version.

Cheers,

Roy
