In VirtualDJ it does the same, just like any conventional standard hardware DJ mixer would.
If it's not working then it means that your sound is not setup correctly.

NOTE: If you can provide more detailed information about what sound card(s), hardware, etc. that you are using then it should be possible to give you a more specific answer.

Sorry to dig his thread up but I really need some help here.
Im going to give you my equipment list:
I have a Yamaha PA sound system that includes a EMX660 powered 6 channel mixer, two Se15 15" 2-way cab speakers, the cables for the speakers, a mic with the XLR, and an RCA cable to plug into my laptop.
I would like to be able to listen to a song cued up on, say... deck 3 while deck 2 is playing. *Side note* I have a pair of Beats Mixr's.
In order to do that, I believe I need a sound card because even though I am able to plug my Beats Mixr into the mixer (with the phone jack thing) there is no PFL software/design built into the mixer.
So, lets say I get a sound card and plug Beats Mixr's into it and the EMX660 (which goes to the speakers). How do I activate a PFL channel on Virtual DJ so like I said before... while Deck 2 is playing, I can listen to deck 3 in my headphones?
Sorry if this is long and confusing, I just am not really that sure about how to do this.
Thanks for any help!

What you've got there is a PA mixer/amp designed for use by musicians (who don't need to cue).
Looking at it, I don't think it's even stereo.
You'd be better off starting over with the correct kit IMO. Get yourself a DJ mixer or a controller with onboard audio.
