Topic: master tempo

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I would like whenever I enable keylock the key to be locked as it would be at 0 position of pitch bend.
Because the time stretch quality is not so good I play without keylock but sometimes I have to enable it if I play faster a song.
But first I have to set the pitch at 0 position and then enable keylock so that I will play with the original key of the song.
I don't like this so much, maybe it would be a good idea this function to be added like the master tempo of cd players.
I think you know what I mean, also I would prefer a better quality in time stretch, at house songs something goes wrong with the drum kits.
It cuts sometimes the attack of kick and the bass sounds dirty.
I have tried all the settings but nothing.

Thanks!

This feature already exists - use the shortcut master_tempo instead of keylock.

It worked! Thank you very much!

But why is this feature hidden in shortcuts?
This is very important feature.

Personally I don't run with master tempo active all the time, so when I switch it on I don't want a sudden key jump - I want the track to lock where it was and then manipulate from there, so keylock suits my way of working.

It's easy enough to change in skins and/or shortcuts if you want though, and you aren't the first person to ask about this :)

You can modify your favourite skin replacing it in the .xml file.

For example mine is:
button action="key_lock" chan="1" rightclick="auto"

just need to change according this:
button action="master_tempo" chan="1" rightclick="auto"

Your old key_lock button will work as master_tempo after that.

It's not hidden, it's actually a simpler version of key_lock function.
The key_lock works the same as master_tempo, only that it locks
always to the current pitch, whereas master_tempo locks always
to original pitch.

So newer skins use key_lock as a default, as users can always
reset the pitch and than engage the key lock if they wish to
preserve the original pitch.

If you prefer the master_tempo, you can customize it in the skin
or keyboard shortcuts, as SBDJ and sischo said.
