Topic: Using 'Track Cleaner' on .mp4 videos with 'Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN' results in audio only (no video) .vdjedit filea
Using Track Cleaner to edit-out portions of music videos sometimes results in .vdjedits files that are missing the video output (audio only).

It appears to me that 'Track Cleaner' is functioning well for editing various video file types (.m4a, .mkv, .webm, Google VP9, etc.

It also appears 'Track Cleaner' functions for editing .mp4 video files, but only if the codec is 'Video: H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10' and/or 'Google VP9'.

However, if you use Track Cleaner on .mp4 video files that have codec 'Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN' the resulting .vdjedit files do not have functioning video... just a black screen.

BUG
Unless I'm missing something, there appears to be a Bug in 'Track Cleaner' that prevents it from producing .vdjedit for .mp4 video files that have ' Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN '

its correct, but you can edit on track cleaner and record a new video mp4,

Works fine here, even with AV1 videos

If I open the the original File_Name.mp4 video vile in Track Cleaner > Remove the intro and outro > click the down arrow by the save (floppy disk) icon
- Clicking 'Save' results in the same File_Name.vdjedits file without video.
- Clicking 'Export' only has the file type options: MP4 Audio (*.m4a), MP3 File (*.mp3), WAVE File (*.wav), FLAC File (*.flac)

There is no option to export a new video file in any format.

There's indeed no export for video yet, but loading the vdjedit should load the video as well.

I'm interested if ADION is getting track cleaned AV1 videos .vdjedit files to correctly display video
...what size, width, height, frame rate, etc those functioning files are?

I'm not super knowledgeable about codecs, AV1, or dav1d, but I know AV1 videos are encoded with different profiles, tiers, and levels that determine complexity, resolution, bit depth, and frame rate capabilities.

e.g.
Main Profile (8 and 10-bit color depth 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 chroma) vs High Profile (8 and 10-bit depth with 4:4:4 chroma) vs Professional Profile (12-bit color depth with 4:4:4 chroma)

Tier Main vs High

Level (2.0 720p @ 30fps to 6.3 8K @ 120fps)

I suspect the BUG has something to do with these differences between files and at least one of these are to causing the issue.

That's the whole issue. Loading and playing the .vdjedits file produced by saving in Track Cleaner in VDJ results in no video being displayed.

Here are the details.
I'm running VDJ v2026 b9295.

I have multiple .MP4 Video Files that play fine within VDJ but no longer display video after using Track Cleaner to trim them.

This error can be replicated by using Track Cleaner to edit .mp4 files with ' Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN, 2560x1440, 25.00 fps, 4968 kbps'.

I haven't seen this issue occur with any other file type / codec.

Right clicking FILE_NAME.MP4 in Windows File Explorer > properties > details display properties like...
Video: Frame width: 2560, Frame Height: 1440, Data Rate: 4961kbps, Total bitrate 5089kbps, Frame rate: 25.00 frames/second
Audio: Bit rate 127kbps, Channels (2 (stereo), Audio sample rate 44.100 kHZ

Right-clicking in VDJ Explorer > Tag Editor > File Info displays:
File size:145.54 MB, Bitrate: 5097 kbps,
Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN, 2560x1440, 25.00 fps, 4968 kbps
Audio: AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), Stereo, 44100 Hz, 128 kbps, 03:55

When I right-click > Track Cleaner > Remove (select to trim the beginning intro and exit outro) > Save
Track Cleaner produces FILE_NAME.vdjedit

Playing File_Name.vdjedits in VDJ results in Audio Only (No Video) Playback

Right-clicking the FILE_NAME.vdjedits file in VDJ Explorer > Tag Editor > File Info displays:
File size: 2.30 KB
Bitrate: 5097 kbps,
Video: dav1d AV1 decoder by VideoLAN, 2560x1440, 25.00 fps, 4968 kbps
Audio: AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), Stereo, 44100 Hz, 128 kbps, 03:55

Right clicking FILE_NAME.vdjedits in Windows File Explorer > Open with: > Notepad displays Text

------

Since
1) Track Cleaner produces the .vdjedit files for this .mp4 with this codec that doesn't display the video and
2) Track Cleaner won't allow exporting the cleaned video as a new video file

Does anyone else have a work around?

Where should this bug be reported?
