Topic: hum/buzz

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 8200, 1.2ghz/512mb ram, running win XP, powered from the wall (not batteries) and i'm running the latest update of VDJ and the latest firmware for the DJC.

when i launch VDJ, i got a really loud hum/buzz coming through my outputs on the DJC (RCA and 1/8" - i don't have any digital connections, so i can only speak for the analog outs).

the hum/buzz is pretty distracting and competes with quiet/silent parts of music quite a bit. has anyone else run into this problem and found a workaround, or is this something that necessitates sending the DJC back to Hercules?

thanks!

Sound like a ground loop... a soft low buzz/humm.
This is one of the hardest problems to fix and there is no easy
solution to it. Try using grounded outlets and cables or try in combination with ungrounded. Good luck trying.

update -

i tried the setup with a number of amplifiers, and found that the hum/buzz was in fact a ground loop hum problem associated with the amp in my studio -- gotta check them grounds!

thanks!
