For whatever goofy reason I didn't even think to mention screen size.
My current laptop has 1366x768 for it's internal screen resolution. It is my biggest issue with it. Some software doesn't fit or position properly on the screen. My rack has a 19" that natively runs 1920x1080. My next laptop needs to support at least that resolution. I'll have to measure the space below my controller to make sure I can fit a larger laptop with a sleeve there for transport.

After many years using high-end MSI and Alienware laptops with excellent specs and performance for djing I was tired of suffering live and go blind with the factory small 15 or 17 inches screens, so I went to mini PC in 2015 and I will never come back for sure. Just now I'm working with an Intel NUC NUC8I7HVK:

It has a terrific i7-8809G Processor with a powerfull Radeon RX Vega M GH graphic card embedded, so just add a M.2 SSD for the OS and software (a 512GB Samsung was my choice), 16 or 32GB RAM (currently I have 32, but with 16GB Virtual DJ 2018 x64 works flawless with extreme video charge) and an external USB 3.0 HD (I'm using a couple of 5TB Seagate Slim, one main and one for backup).
Of course you need a monitor, I've got firstly a 27 inches that I changed past year for a 32 inches Benq (pictured in my profile).
Not sure if you want to follow this barebone + external monitor path, but I can assure you this is heaven, for more of less the invoice of a high end laptop you are getting a small, portable and fully customizable and upgradeable set-up.

I moved from an 8 year old Dell laptop to MSI in Nov 2018

GT73EVR-7RF-Titan-Pro
16GB RAM (will soon be 64GB)
GeForce® GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5X
17.3" FHD (1920x1080), 120Hz, 5ms, Wide-View

This thing will do everything and anything, I'm only upgrading the ram to 64GB to enable better Photoshop and video rendering

Yes!! That’s what got me thinking about the whole mini PC game. That thing is badass!! How’s that video card handle multiple live camera feeds??

That MSI looks like a good machine and price not too bad.

With a laptop you get convenience, which I know is important to some of you, but that is all you get over something you can put together yourself.

Generally you pay more when you buy a laptop and can possibly pay a lot more if something goes wrong with it. Expand-ability is limited.

The NVIDIA 10 series GPUs have dropped the 'm' designation for laptops. The 'm' meant that it was the laptop version like 745m. And could mean it was up to twice as slow as the desktop version of the same model. This was due to heat and form factor. The 10 series are supposed to be equivalent in both the laptop and desktop versions. Probably not exactly but I see it as a big step up nevertheless. Laptops will still generate more heat and heat means slower when it comes to computers.

Apparently some think it is foolish to spend money on a good machine. Depends on what you want to accomplish.

Huey already knows and has known for years that being a video dj is more than just playing videos.
