Topic: Sound through laptop but none through speakers or headphones?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Just bought a Numark Party Mix Deck (new) and have plugged it in via the usb into my laptop, have also plugged in my headphones into the aux input on the decks and have plugged in my speakers into the RCA connection on the top right of the deck.
Essentially I am getting no sound through my external speakers or headphones, only through my internal laptop speaker. I have tried all the different settings on the virtual dj settings bar.
Using a Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop running windows 10.

Okay thanks mate just did that and im now getting sound through my speakers but when I press the prelisten headphone button it just overlays and also comes out my speakers so still no sound through my headphones.

Headphones should go to channels 3&4. Now they are going to the master output as well

If your set up is identical to the manual this may be a question for Numark instead of atomix.

Maybe a faulty unit?
