Topic: Adding support for new file types

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there any API for extending Virtual DJ 8's support for new file types? I'd like to add support for KFN files from KaraFun (an audio/video container format), but I don't see anything in the developer docs for creating codecs. In fact, I don't even see the old "Codecs" menu from VDJ7 anywhere in VDJ8.

No info on this? The audio portion of the files contained in KFN files are usually OGG, so natively supported by VDJ, but it would be really inconvenient to have to unpack all the files and then synchronize them with the lyrics ahead of time.

It is not possible for users to add custom file types.
Is there any information available about the karafun file type?

I believe the files used by Karafun (.kfn) are proprietary to work exclusively with their product, Since you do not purchase the songs individually your private use. You actually purchase a license to use Karafun application which gives you access to their library.
