My wife bought this for me to play around in the house on the weekends. I haven't used it all that much but now it asks me to purchase the professional version. It states that home recreational use is free, how do I fix this?

I believe you can use VDJ 8 without a controller and it is free to use. However if you want to use a controller then you need to buy the professional version. What version of VDJ are you using?

8 but it says if I use it more than 10 min I have to buy it

You have the home version and this will indeed only allow you to use a controller for 10 minutes. You will have to purchase the pro licence to rectify this.
