Topic: Locking a controller to prevent unauthorized use

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there a way to lock a controller to prevent unauthorized use then the dj is away?
I am a wedding dj, and sometimes children (or drunk adults) see the lights of the controller and try to touch them.
Is there a VDJ script to lock the buttons or turn off the leds?

None that I'm aware of. There is a screen lock for version VDJ7 in the Downloads that requires a password to enable, however, it only prevented keyboard & mouse input. A controller by-passed it afaik (haven't used VDJ7 in 3 years). It was PC only.

It's actually pretty easy but time consuming to script it.

Perhaps you can just set the controller mapping to 'ignore'

Is the variable for lock on ? Yes do nothing, no do whatever action the button dial etc is meant to do, you can also lock your machine (o/s based) to avoid keyboard & mouse input, but your amps and leads are still open to idiots doing idiot things.

Best bet is bring a friend or make friends with the technology nerd at the party, (there's always one)
