Topic: Not enough USB controller resources

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all,

Running Windows 10, and got a Hercules DJ Console RMX using Virtual DJ 8.2.

I just hooked it up for the first time and installed the newest drivers from their website and getting a message popup in the lower right near the task tray:
Not enough USB controller resources.

Anyone see this before and know what it means?

Usually means whatever your plugging in is drawing more power then the port provides.

I could be wrong though.

Try a different port and does the controller have a power supply?

Thanks this controller did not come with a transformer (nor is there any DC or AC input port on the device to accept anything like that).

I found a link which mentioned:

If your USB 3.0 system is hitting a device resource limit, some systems will allow disabling the USB 3.0 (XHCI) controller and fall back to the USB 2.0 (ECHI) controller on the system. This workaround is known to work when the system BIOS offers it.

and it turns out my PC had that option. It seems I may have too many usb devices hooked up. First test it didn't give the error. If I don't report back then that did the trick.

Instead of messing with the BIOS maybe try a Powered USB hub?

Yours actually looks better, and seems to be made out of metal. I need the charging ports, because I use my phone as a hotspot, which will drain your phone quickly.
