I'm wanting to add some Karaoke to my service offerings. The only thing I need is the Karaoke music/files. I had a friend that was huge into this and still does some of it but do not talk to him much anymore as he lives in another state. I know he had a subscription service that he got all of his Karaoke from. Does anyone use this type of service? Where is the best place to get Karaoke from? (besides Youtube). I want to obtain legally and not some goofy download site.
Any help is appreciated.

Sound Choice www.soundchoicestore.com are the best ones you can get and is what I RECOMMEND.That is what alot of Karaoke junkies will ask to sing there version and they offer w/vocals or without But I also use Karaoke Warehouse www.karaokewh.com

I get all my monthly stuff and best of from karaoke warehouse and the prices and shipping are good. You can also get sets off of ebay from a select few people that are original disc, not copied, for good prices. You can find Charbuster essentials sets for around $180 per set. Also, look around on craigslist for people getting rid of their collections that are getting of of the business.

Here is some interesting reading for North American KJs - http://www.thekiaa.org/
According to these guys, there are only 3 legal companies to purchase karaoke files from:
The KIAA have been circling pubs and bars in my area and dropping off flyers and forms to venue owners.

That's BS. As long as you own the disc from a legit manufacturer you can play the song. Except for SC they want you to buy their digital collection to use it on a computer, that's why I won't use them.

that was rude and incorrect
also you should not be encouraging anyone to buy this stuff on craigslist since they cannot transfer there
license and that makes it illegal

Nothing rude about it. Just saying that there would not be as many manufacturers of Karaoke discs if they were not legal. There are tons of companies that have been around for some time and make great versions. And I did not know it is illegal to buy an original disc from somebody, guess I will be stuck with thousands of beer coasters when I decide to stop DJing.

You can buy and sell used CD's, vinyl, cassette Tapes, DVD, and VHS movies. There are legal companies that make a living doing this. The catch is under the license that you cannot keep any copies of the Original in any format, this is what is known as illegal.

Aceman is in Canada, I believe the rules are different there.

KIAA stands for Karaoke Industry Alliance of America, CRashster. They originated in the good ole US of A and have since expanded to Canada. They are now covering all of North America.
Most of those manufacturers have a disclaimer on their disks that state "for private use only". As far as the KIAA are concerned, there are only three legitimate manufacturers of Karaoke for use in public performances.
I would encourage anybody reading this thread to check out the site and read it over so that everybody knows their rights and can protect themselves accordingly.
